Firstly, I would like to thank everyone that contributed to this amazing 'Challenge Your Limits' mosaic making art project (mosaic mural). It has been a great pleasure working with talented and artistic students of National Technological University, the different volunteer groups, secondary school students and the wonderful staff of Hort Park.
Next, I have been asked to continue to work on my blog, sharing my thoughts and feelings of all the mosaic pieces that i have created and the ones that I am working on.
I must admit that I should have done this earlier but better late than never. With this in mind, I shall try my hardest to keep posting all my new mosaic projects and at the same time, to have fun working on it.
Each time I visit the Hort Park, it brings a smile to my face and now, I am able to share the same joy with my daughter.
My pride and joy.
I would like to dedicate all my mosaic inspirations and works to you Megan.
You are my sunshine Forever!
It all began with an idea. Let's challenge our limits. The students of NTU thought to themselves. Every year, they would organise events that were extreme and would push themselves to the limit.
Let's create a mosaic art mural...And this was how we met!
I was asked to come up with ideas and designs. What inspired my designs? Hmm, my inspiration came from the beautiful flowers that were planted in the gardens.
In 2009, this mosaic art mural was created and mosaic with the help of the NTU students and the wonderful volunteers.
This project involved many volunteer groups along with several secondary schools. Each mosaic tile was chipped with alot of love and they were carefully pieced and fitted by at least a thousand participants. Once all the boards have been filled with mosaic tiles. They were ready for grouting and installation.
The Official Opening went along very smoothly and I was close to tears and overwhelmed. I had mixed feelings. I was happy and proud of our accomplishments and sad to know that the project had come to an end.
Official Opening at the Hort Park Guest of Honor: Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan |
Award Ceremony.. Yeah! I got one too. |
In conclusion, I will continue with my mosaic journey. Sharing what I know, loving what I do and doing what I love. Thank you for all the memories and hopefully more to come.
